My current role involves working within an independent SEMH school as a Dramatherapist (children and young people) and the Lead of Therapeutic Education Practice teaching across school services. In school, I work with many children and young people, in groups and as individuals. My work starts with rapport building, moving on to address specific needs and concerns parents, carers or the school has. In addition to this, I deliver a pioneering course, which is a Level 3 Award in Therapeutic Education and Group Process. The course modules consist of varied topics such as child development, mental health, neurodiversity, reflective practice, relational and developmental trauma, therapeutic education teaching and learning and more. The purpose of the course is to support all roles within a teaching and learning environment who want to be more trauma-aware and responsive in their teaching practice.
